By submitting cards to Headline, you authorize us to prep and ship them to PSA or CGC on your behalf. Final grades and prescreen decisions are never guaranteed. Break customers: if a card looks unlikely to grade well, we may return it with your break purchase at our discretion — no guarantees either way.

How Grading Works

From the moment you submit to the moment you pick up your slabs — a simple, trackable process with automated updates along the way.

  1. Submit

    Fill out the submission form online or at our Tampa shop. Break customers can send hits straight from their break — no extra shipping required.

  2. Pay

    Pay through Shopify at submission. We don't start processing until payment clears — your total covers the grading fees, Headline's $5 per-card prep & handling, and your chosen return option.

  3. Process

    We prep, package, and ship your cards to PSA or CGC in scheduled, fully insured batches. Turnaround begins when the grading company receives and checks in your submission.

  4. Return

    Graded cards come back to Headline. We inspect each one, photograph the slabs, and email you that your order is ready.

  5. Fulfill

    Pick up at our Tampa shop or have them shipped to you (shipping rates apply). No release without full payment on upcharges.

Turnaround times begin when the grading company receives your cards — not when you drop them off or mail them in. All estimates are set by PSA and CGC and may exceed original ETAs.

The Fine Print

Policies & Disclaimers

Everything you should know before submitting cards to Headline. By submitting, you agree to all of the following.

  1. All turnaround times are estimates set by PSA and CGC at their discretion and can run past the original ETA. Headline can't control or guarantee grading-company timelines.

  2. The clock starts when PSA or CGC checks in your submission from Headline — not when you drop off, mail in or submit the form. Prep, sorting and batch shipping add time before that.

  3. Every card carries a $10 prep, packing and shipping fee on top of the grader's fee. Return is a flat $16.99 insured and tracked, or free pickup at our Tampa shop. Transit to and from the grader is insured and included — there is no separate insurance charge.

  4. PSA or CGC may upcharge a card that grades above the value you declared. Headline passes these through at cost with no markup, and your cards are released as soon as the balance is paid.

  5. Walk-Through ($10,000 max) is the highest PSA level we submit; PSA quotes cards above that on its Premium levels. Email grading@shopwithheadline.com before submitting anything in that range.

  6. Cards aren't prepped or shipped to the grader until your submission payment clears. Upcharges found in transit must be paid in full before cards are released.

  7. Headline does not clean, wipe or touch cards submitted for grading. They ship exactly as you hand them to us. Submit in penny sleeves and card savers; thicker cards in top loaders or MAGs.

  8. For cards pulled in a Headline break: if a card looks unlikely to grade well we may return it with your break purchase instead of submitting it. Prescreen outcomes are never guaranteed.

  9. PSA and CGC may not refund or credit cards they find altered, ungradeable or inauthentic. Headline cannot refund grading fees once a card is in the grader's possession.

  10. Graded cards can be picked up in Tampa or shipped to you at your cost. Nothing is released until any outstanding upcharge is paid in full.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about submitting cards for PSA or CGC grading through Headline.

  1. Turnaround times are estimates set by PSA and CGC, not by Headline. The clock starts when the grader checks in your submission — not when you drop off, mail in or submit the form. Prep, sorting and batch shipping from Headline typically add about a week on top of the grader's published turnaround, and some orders run past the estimate.

    The PSA and CGC tables above show the current turnaround by level.

  2. In person: drop off at our Tampa shop with a completed submission form. Cards go in penny sleeves and card savers (top loaders or MAGs for thicker cards). No air tags or original letters of authentication — photocopies only.

    Mail in: fill out the form online, pay, and ship your cards insured to our Tampa address.

    From a Headline break: we already have the card. Fill out the form for the hit you want graded and it goes into our next shipment — nothing for you to ship.

  3. The PSA and CGC tables above show your price per card at every level — that's the grader's fee plus $10 per card for Headline to prep, pack and ship it. At checkout your total is your price × the number of cards, plus your return option: a flat $16.99 for insured return shipping, or free pickup in Tampa. Insured transit to and from the grader is included; there is no separate insurance charge.

    If a card grades above the value you declared, the grader may upcharge. We pass that through at cost, and it's settled before the card is released.

  4. No. Headline does not clean, wipe, buff or touch your cards before submission — they ship to PSA or CGC exactly as you hand them to us.

    Have them in penny sleeves and card savers before you drop off or mail in. Thicker cards (relics, autos, memorabilia) belong in top loaders or MAGs.

  5. Pickup: collect your slabs at our Tampa shop, 13036 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa FL 33618 — Mon–Fri 11am–7pm, Sat–Sun 10am–6pm. We email you when the order is ready.

    Ship back: we ship insured at your cost, calculated on declared value and destination.

    Cards aren't released until any outstanding upcharge or return-shipping balance is paid.

  6. PSA or CGC apply an upcharge when a card's actual value turns out higher than the value you declared at submission — the higher tier carries more insurance on the return leg, and that cost is passed through to you at no markup.

    Not sure of a card's value? Pick the next level up from your estimate. For anything over $10,000, email grading@shopwithheadline.com first — PSA quotes those on its Premium levels.

  7. Yes — it's one of the biggest perks of ripping with us. We already have the card, so you skip the packing and shipping entirely.

    Fill out the grading form for the hit (or hits) you want graded, pay through Shopify, and your card goes into our next scheduled PSA or CGC shipment.

  8. For cards pulled in a Headline break: if a card looks unlikely to grade well (heavy damage, obvious defects), we may return it with your break purchase instead of submitting it, at our discretion.

    This isn't a guaranteed prescreen — we won't catch every card that won't grade, and we can't promise a specific grade on anything we submit. Final grades are always up to PSA or CGC.

  9. All submissions are paid through Shopify. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover, Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay.

    Nothing is prepped or shipped to the grader until payment clears.

  10. Yes. Submit the form online, pay through Shopify, and ship your cards insured to 13036 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa FL 33618, with a copy of your confirmation in the package.

    When they're back you can pick up in Tampa or have them shipped to you at your cost.
