Unconfirmed. A post on r/PokemonTCGCollectors, amplified by Pokemon Alerts on X on Sunday night, shows a sign at an Ace Hardware store advertising $4.99 Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering repacks, limited to three per customer per week, no returns. The poster says the store pulled its sealed packs from the shelf and that staff told them a lifelong collector makes the repacks.

The store is not identified, and Ace Hardware has not commented. The X post had about 2,000 likes and 514,000 views by Monday.

Repacks are a long-running sore spot in the hobby: a sealed pack has a known expected value, while a repack's contents are whatever the packer chose to put in. Big-box retailers have mostly stayed away from them, which is why a hardware store selling its own drew attention.

Why collectors should care: if you see repacks at a chain store, that is a store-level decision, not a corporate one. Sealed product from the same store is unaffected, assuming it is still on the shelf.
