Sealed vintage Pokémon keeps setting records. Goldin said Monday that a factory-sealed 2005 Pokémon EX Deoxys booster box, 36 packs, sold for $378,267 in its Pokémon 30th Anniversary Auction, the highest public sale ever for that box.

The same auction produced a record for a sealed 2011 Call of Legends box at $341,600. Goldin said Monday evening that the sale brought in nearly $29 million in total, its highest-grossing Pokémon auction. The headline cards from the weekend, including the 1997 Gold Trophy Pikachu PSA 8 at $3,080,500 and the 2015 Art Academy Mudkip PSA 10 at $4,880,000, closed Sunday.

EX Deoxys, from the EX era's 2005 run, is best known for its Gold Star Rayquaza and Latios/Latias cards. Sealed boxes have been scarce for years, which is why a single box now sells for more than most individual graded cards from the set.

Why collectors should care: the sealed market is moving alongside the graded market, not behind it. A $378,000 box means every remaining sealed EX-era box got re-priced on Monday.
